So many people suffer from chronic pain. Often people believe that they have tried everything, and that there is no real hope for them to live pain-free. What are some things these individuals can do, to help reduce or even eliminate their pain? In this interview series, called “Becoming Pain-Free: How to Alleviate Chronic Pain” we are talking to medical professionals, pain management specialists and authors who can share their insights and strategies about how to alleviate chronic pain. As a part of this series we had the pleasure of interviewing Dr. Heather Gansel.

In the wake of the global pandemic, many businesses and professionals faced unprecedented challenges, forcing them to adapt or perish. Dr. Heather K Gansel, a seasoned chiropractor with over 22 years of experience, was no exception. However, her resilience and determination not only helped her survive but also inspired a transformation that would revolutionize the way athletes conquer pain and achieve peak performance.

Had such a fun time discussing health and wellness with my very good friend
Ella Ray. Ella's podcast and YouTube channel focuses on these topics: mindset, personal branding, marketing, sales, automation, AI, communication, parenting, relationships, finance, leadership, as well as health and fitness. It was such an honor to be featured on her show as we talked in depth on "understanding why you hurt and how to heal".

"Since I was 5 I was always playing sports. Gymnastics, tennis, soccer, basketball, swimming and softball. With every sport I played I could feel the demand they had on my body. That’s why it wasn’t surprising that I would experience extreme pain when I was the catcher for a traveling girls softball team. When you are so young, 14, fear is an automatic response because you do not know any better. Not knowing if I would be able to walk again thanks to the massive amount of radiating pain into my legs."

Dr. Heather, a movement specialist and expert in helping runners, is proud to be one of 25 writers featured in the new book, Learning through Pain: 25 Holistic Strategies for Healing Chronic Pain. The book, inspired by serial entrepreneur Natalie Pickett from Melbourne, Australia, shares stories and methods from those who have experienced chronic pain and found ways to heal.

Dr. Heather’s journey began in 8th grade when she dislocated her low back while playing varsity softball. She received help from her mother’s chiropractor, who used Kinesiology and spinal adjustments to help her recover quickly. This experience inspired Dr. Heather to become a chiropractor and help others heal naturally. She prides herself on listening to each client and uncovering the root cause of their pain.

Why Ankle Flex Is Important For Skiers
Most of us, maybe more the beginner skier, may think that since our foot/ankle is in a ski boot our ankles do not play a role in how we ski. Well that isn’t 100% true.
When we ski we want good “ankle flex”. What?

The pandemic challenged us in many ways, physically, emotionally and mentally. But for most of us the challenge came from having to redefine how we were going to conduct business. Having opened a new business right at the height of the Pandemic without knowing what was going to happen next forced me to collaborate in new ways. I was about to completely change my entire business model around.

Dr. Heather was a guest on NourishDoc discussing movement science and how virtual coaching helps athletes perform pain-free.

Back in August 2020, I became the “Virtual Chiropractor”. Now you may be thinking, “Wait, what did she just say?” How can chiropractic care be virtual? Well, chiropractic care is indeed a hands-on approach to healing one’s body, which requires you to go to a chiropractor in person. But the actual adjustment only plays a small role in you becoming pain-free.

If your training feels inconsistent, pain keeps resurfacing, or you’re unsure how to progress without breaking down, the next step isn’t another random exercise or quick fix.
It’s understanding how you move, where your imbalances are, and how to train your body more efficiently — so strength, performance, and resilience actually carry over to real life and sport.
Whether that starts with coaching, an educational guide, or gait analysis, the goal is the same: clarity, confidence, and long-term progress.
